About the farm:
Norandino, formerly known as CEPICAFE, was established in March 1995 with 200 members. Since then, the group has evolved into a second level non-profit organization that represents coffee and sugar cane producers from the Piuran mountains of northeastern Peru. Norandino strives to sell all their coffee to the specialty market while strengthening their organization and establishing cooperative and respectful commercial alliances with their international network of buyers.
By consolidating member organizations under the Norandino umbrella, producers have become active and respected agents for sustainable development in their region. They work together to improve quality and production under certified organic practices and have increased their coffee exports from 550 qq in 1997 to almost 40,000 qq in specialty markets across North America, Europe, and Asia. In addition, farmers now have access to financing and development projects that have allowed for the diversification of their production base, including products such as panela, jams, cocoa, crafts, and tourism.
